Garth Performing at ACMs

.... You'd never know the guy was retired, would ya?

Garth Brooks will be in Las Vegas during the "43rd annual Academy of Country Music Awards" to perform a medley of his hits at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

The slot comes in conjunction with a nationally televised presentation of the ACM’s Crystal Milestone Award, a new honor given to an artist or industry leader "to commemorate a specific, remarkable achievement." The ACM originally gave him the trophy last November in Hollywood when the Recording Industry Association of America recognized him for shipments of 123 million units, making him the leading solo artist in U.S. history.

"I am flattered and humbled by what this award means," Garth says. "The fact that they have never awarded it before makes me feel the respect and the faith they have in me as an artist, and I will continue to work my butt off to make sure they are happy with their choice."

Garth has claimed 18 ACM awards in the past, including Artist of the Decade for the 1990s. Hosted by Reba McEntire, the show will air on CBS May 18, beginning at 7 p.m.
