Hootie's Lead Singer Darius Rucker Cuts Country Album

There shall be no blowfish

Darius Rucker’s new Country album won't be “Hootie and the Blowfish with fiddle and steel.” The lead singer for Hootie and the Blowfish says there's already too much of that kind of thing in Nashville today.

"My record is going to be Country Country," says Darius. He adds that the song he wants as his first single is already being dubbed "too Country" for Country radio.

Darius has been in Nashville co-writing with hit tunesmiths Craig Wiseman and Rivers Rutherford. He has signed with Capitol/Nashville, where he will be labelmates with Keith Urban and Dierks Bentley.

Expect to hear his “Country Country” debut in early 2008.
