The Nervous Apprentice

Trace Adkins did not expect to fare particularly well when he joined the cast of Donald Trump's NBC show "The Celebrity Apprentice," but now he finds himself one of the two finalists for this Thursday's conclusion, and he has no idea how it will turn out.

The bulk of the series was taped last fall in New York City, but this week's two-hour finale is live, and that means it's anyone's guess whether Trace or his opponent, Piers Morgan, will come up the victor.

"I really don't know how it's gonna play out," Trace says. "I think most of the cast is coming back, so it'll be cool to see all those folks again. But I don't really know much more than that. I think we're gonna watch some of the show, some of the stuff that's on tape, and maybe we'll comment on it in the boardroom. So I'm just as anxious about that as everybody else is, just ready to get it on, get it done."

The winner will receive $250,000 for a charity; Trace's is the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network. He's scheduled to perform his current single, "You're Gonna Miss This," on "Apprentice," and he hinted in last week's episode that there may be appearances by several other country stars, including Lonestar's Dean Sams, Ronnie Milsap and Montgomery Gentry.
