Garth's kids call Trisha "Mommy"

When Trisha Yearwood married Garth Brooks in 2005, she also got an instant family with his daughters from his first marriage — which she now admits was nerve-racking at first.

"It [was] scary. I'm madly in love with this guy, and this is the deal. So I was really scared of them at first," she said recently on The View of Garth's three daughters, Taylor, 15, August, 13, and Allie, 11.

Trisha, who has no other children, said she had to get used to entertaining kids. "We would have them every other day, so they would go to their mom's at 6 o'clock, and I would be sitting there thinking, 'What do we do until 6 o'clock? I don't know what to do with children.' "

Over time, Trisha said she came to love having them in her life. "It became, 'Okay, I'm still scared, but it's not as bad,' and then it became, 'I love having them all the time.' You fall in love with them. You learn why people have kids."

But she says she was careful not to try to be their mother or their best friend. Instead, she thinks of herself as the children's "Bonus Mom."

Trisha, who released her new album Heaven, Heartache, and the Power of Love, earlier this month, will celebrate her second anniversary with Garth on December 10.
