Blake Shelton's uncle, 72-year-old Dempsey D. Byrd, died Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 12) after being struck by a van while walking down a street in the singer's hometown of Ada, Okla.
The vehicle was driven by a 34-year-old Ada resident, but the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
As a result, Shelton canceled his Saturday night concert in Arrington, Va. The show at the Oak Ridge Estate will feature Joe Nichols, who was already scheduled to appear with Shelton.
