The Sara Evans Situation, as it will be called cuz that sounds cool; just keeps getting better. Now that she has been accused of adultry -- including being accused of having affiars with Kenny Chesney, Tony Dovolani and the entire band 3 Doors Down -- it was time for her to fire back.
Lawyers for Evans responded in papers filed in Williamson County Court on Sept. 11, saying: "In a communication to Wife on August 23, 2007, Husband states to Wife: 'I don't care about the interrogatories [sic] coming out and about you having to answer them. It won't matter anyway whether you answer them or not. The questions themselves will answer all the tabloids want to know. I don't care about draining every last dime and completely destroying your career.' "
Citing a gag order in the case, Evans's publicist and lawyer declined comment, but a spokesman for Chesney terms the allegation "ridiculous."
Evans, 36, filed for divorce in October 2006, alleging that Schelske, 44, had an affair with their children's nanny and that he threatened Evans repeatedly. He has denied the charges.
